Facilities Services

Frequently Used Tools:

Construction & Repair Division

The Construction and Repairs component of the Facilities Services Department oversees new work, remodeling, and major repairs. These activities are interrelated and performed by our craft shops: Air Conditioning Services, Carpentry Services, Electrical Services, and Plumbing Services. Construction and Repairs is more than routine work such as changing air conditioning filters, replacing ceiling tiles, or doing custodial services, all performed by Preventive Maintenance and Building Services. Construction and Repair work is specialized and requires specialized workers and equipment to match.

Our construction projects usually do not exceed two million dollars. High cost projects include the installation of utility connections to new buildings which are under construction. Importantly, much of our work is remodeling or renovation of existing facilities in support of new or changing programs on campus. Occasionally, existing facilities are acquired and need reconfiguration such as the Metron Building purchased in 2006.
