Grounds Maintenance Services is responsible for the maintenance and improvement of the campus grounds and provides transfer and hauling services for the university.

Grounds Maintenance: Grounds Maintenance Services provides mowing, raking, mulching, fertilizing, weeding, edging, litter pick-up, street and parking lot cleaning, and ice and snow removal. To indicate needed grounds service, call the Work Order Office at 974-2347. 


Heavy Equipment: The Grounds Maintenance Services maintains a variety of heavy equipment through which it provides diverse services. Heavy equipment services include grading, excavating, trenching, demolition, street sweeping, storm sewer clean-out, hauling, asphalt preparation and repair, fence repair, general purpose welding, ice and snow removal, handling and placement of heavy pieces of equipment, and other miscellaneous activities. To obtain service call the Work Order Office at 974-2347. 


Horticultural and Landscaping Services: Horticultural services are provided by a specialized crew. These services include landscape design, planting, transplanting, pruning, tree removal, and greenhouse operation. Advice on the selection and care of indoor plants is also provided. To obtain these services, contact the Horticulturist for Grounds Maintenance (206 Facilities Services Warehouse Building, 974-3486).


Ice and Snow Removal: The Grounds Maintenance Services provides ice and snow removal services for the Main and Agricultural campuses. These services are provided on a priority basis, with safety of the greatest number of individuals being used to determine the order of service. 


Transfer and Hauling Services: The Grounds Maintenance Services provides transfer and hauling services for the Main and Agricultural campuses. These services include: 

  • Set up for registrations, Commencement, SGA elections, classrooms, and special events. 
  • Pick up and delivery services. 
  • Arrangement and moving of office furniture and equipment.
  • Arrangements with a professional moving company for heavy items and large moves. 

The requesting user is generally charged for the services of the transfer and hauling unit. 


Waste Disposal: The collection and disposal of non-hazardous solid wastes is provided by an outside contractor under a contract administered by the Grounds Maintenance Services. In the event of problems with the contractor's service or special needs, contact the Grounds Maintenance Services.
